Take it with a grain of salt, as I'm in no way shape and/or form qualified to talk on this... However...

Perhaps it might be in your best interest to take a severance package and at least secure yourself for a brief while, until you're a bit more accustomed to dealing with your current state. Blindness and the general weakness accompanying whatever it is thats occuring with you are a major change in pace.

Learning braille is likely the first step, along with finding a method of using the computer that's efficient and productive for you. You could quite possibly come across a company willing to work with someone having a disability (and despite your not wanting to be disabled, blindness is a notch into one's ability, for certain), particularly if you can do a good job of filling into some spot they have despite the difficulties seeing.

Also, you lamented difficulties in retaining things as of late -- don't despair so soon. We primarily learn either through doing (which is likely difficult for the things you're trying to retain), and the next best thing is seeing. This is only because we're used to learning through these two methods. You simply need to readjust. Repetition is the mother of success, so don't give up.

I have arranged for my braille class.

I'm making arangements to go back to work and see if I can actually do this.

I am in a state of despair about my ability to learn and comprehend. I am unusually good at both and have become unusually bad at both. It is not a transition I can easily tolerate. Time will tell.
