I have a heart murmur...
Not sure what that means. I was told in the mid-80s that I had a heart murmur and that I should disregard it because it was so very slight. I have done so. Now it's back and a bit less slight. Doc called it "grade 2 or grade 3". Not sure what that means. I've been for an echocardiogram and have been told "nothing has changed since last time". I'm not sure if "don't worry about it" mode is appropriate anymore.
Other parts of me seem to be failing too. Some of you may remember my having surgery on my left hand a while back. I've been trying to remember just when it was done, but can't figure it out. I had surgery for Dupuytren's Contracture. It is not a serious problem, but it has occurred now on my right hand. The first surgery was flawless. I have experienced a barely noticeable reduction of the strength of the pinky and ring fingers of my left hand. It has not inhibited my typing or any activity. I am still reluctant to have the procedure done on my right. I spend too much typing to lose any functionality. There is a procedure called a needle aponeurotomy that is less invasive then the surgery I had. I will discuss that with my doctor.
Since I last wrote we have become an Obamanation. I put it that only way because I am cynical about his ability to actually make any of the change he talked about. I am convinced that his administration will be so clogged with other people's agendas for him that he will accomplish little. Let's all hope I'm wrong. Rumor has it he may use an executive order to eliminate the ban on stem cell research. I'm all for that.
Flu shot gave me the flu as usual. Now I have given it to Sis. *sigh* when will I learn not to get flu shots. It just gives me the flu then I get it again when it makes the rounds. Better to have it just once, I think.
Working on Nanowrimo again this year. My Novel is a dismal failure again this year. I began with an entirely different approach than usual. In past years I've done little other than begin writing on November 1st in hopes of getting to 50,000 words by the end of the month. This time I carefully plotted my entire novel. I created a detailed world description with a lengthy history. I created character biographies for every character, then wrote character "interviews" to flesh them out still more fully. With all of this accomplished before 1 November I had only to write my story, with my carefully pre-planned chapters as a guide. I'm at about 4400 words when I should be up to 16,667 today. Here's hoping for a 12k fit of pleonasm.
Sis's birthday is coming up this week. I have her presents already, 4 bottles of Vampire Wine which will most likely wind up in Coq au vin. I drink wine rarely, but enjoy it immensely. Sis never drinks wine (in best movie vampire tradition). We have been trying out a variety of white, rosé, and blush wines to see what works best. Most recipes are quite non-specific about wine, leaving you to choose cooking sherry or whatever. Sis and I are a bit more picky, usually. We like to make our recipe in the crock pot (do everything the easy way is my advice).
- 1 can French Onion Soup
- 1 can Cream of Mushroom Soup
- (optional) 2 cans mushroom stems and pieces (fresh mushrooms are better)
- ½ 1 medium onion diced very fine
- 6 boneless, skinless, chicken breasts
- 1 to 1 ½ cups white, blush, or ros&eqcute; wine (red works, but is utterly different)
- Add all ingredients save the chicken to crockpot. Mix well.
- Add chicken breasts. These may be added frozen.
- Heat on low setting for 8 hours.
- If breasts are added frozen, insure that liquid covers them once they are melted by adding water if needed.
I am bored with pre/post-election rhetoric. I'm ready for that to change if naught else. I am also more than a bit bored with WoW these days. I haven't signed on in weeks. I have been playing Spore incessantly, but I suspect that will wear out soon. Where is my next strategy game to come from?
