Tidal Pool

How simple is the chain of life
in a tidal pool;
its minor strife
a mirror of our world.

Filled by waves two times each day,
full of life
the ocean's strays
find shelter in the pools.

A fish, a crab, some larger life
becomes a monster
to the pool's small life
and takes it all away.

The monster feeds but doesn't flee
The renewing waves
don't set it free
and in the end it starves.

And tiny strays of Ocean's life
find a bounteous pool
now free of strife
and populate it once again.
