Diary of a Blind Madman

2006.47 Not much to say
Today's Movie Quote: " This is just a dirty little village in the middle of nowhere. Nothing that happens here is really important."

Today has been difficult. I've been cold despite the fact that the house is warm. I've had headaches (above and beyond the constant one) for a couple of days now. I wish the weather would settle down and let me rest a little.

I'm in the center of an odd little hiatus from all my medical appointments. Won't see my M.D. until late in March, Neurologist about the same time, shrink is first week of March, and Psychiatrist is a week after that. Events have conspired to give me about 20 days without having to see a doctor. Woo Hoo! I guess.

The Wolfner Library who loans books on tape to the blind (and others) is having a birthday celebration soon. I haven't been able to screw myself up to attend, but I think that maybe I would like to do so. I dislike crowds so. The good news is that the library has recently acquired three authors I enjoy. Even though I've read all the books they have, I think I'll order some of them just because it's been many years since I read most of the books in question. The authors? David Drake, S.M. Stirling, and Terry Pratchett. They haven't any of the latest items by those authors, but re-reading is something I've always done.

I've been extremely down for several days, just had a lot of things pile up. People responded variously to my last post and helped a lot in their various way. My special thanks to beanrua for her brief note on the subject of adoptees. I showed it to my daughter to good effect. I don't know where things are going, but I suspect they'll work out for the best.

I'm glad it helped. *smile*

I've been *freezing* for days too. I think it's part of the sinus infection hell. Today...long underwear and a fuzzy shawl. I'm really hating this cold snap.

I'm thinking about volunteering for Wolfner.

If you do volunteer, try to influence them to get books from the same decade in which they are published and to get some science fiction from a decade later than the 60s.

Honestly, they're not *that* bad but they never have any 'cool' books. Wolfner is a Librarian's library, not a Reader's library, y'know?

Yep, it looks like the collection is very dated, and they like Star Trek and Star Wars books too much (bleh).

I will do my best.

I'll see if any of the voluneer times are outside of regular business hours.

are you thinking of attending their anniversary party? if so I will attend and try to meet you there...

Well, this is the first time I've really thought seriously about volunteering, and I don't know what hoops I'll need to jump through to get onboard.

I won't go unless I'm invited of course, and if I am, well, I'll be absolutely sure to let you know, so that we can meet!

No volunteering. Only business hours, Monday through Friday. I would imagine that's why there aren't more current books produced...most people don't have that kind of time.
