Bad Word Day

I'm having a bad word day. Get your mind out of the gutter! Not that kind of bad word. My novel "Wolves of the World" contains a couple of f-bombs, but it's not all that bad. My collaborative effort with the Mighty Ed will likely contain no profanity to speak of (in keeping with the precepts of the Holy Roddenberry).

No, the problem is a zero word count for the day. I've written next to nothing. I hope to push my count to at least 5k today between now (around 18:00) and midnight. We'll see how it goes. Wish me luck!

Current counts: WoW: 11,689 ST-FG: 6,395 + an unknown amount written by Mighty ED - an unknown amount to be edited out due to the fact that we were writing the same chapters.

Stick a Fork in me, I'm done.

Stick a fork in me... I'm done. My word count for le werewolf novel is 13,557, and for both the novel and the collaboration a total of 19,952. For both to reach 50,000, there are only 80,048 words to go... that's just 3,481 words per day. Piece o' cake!

I actually wrote 3,216 words on "Wolves of the World" today and did at the rate of about 804 words per hour - did it between 18:00 and 22:00. I a pleased with my effort.

Well, I was pleased with my effort until I went to put my numbers into the NaNoWriMo website and discovered that one of my writing buddies had just crossed 50,000 words. That's 7,143 words per day for 7 days. Now I did 6,800 words my first day out the gate, but sustaining that pace, even my 3,200 words-a-day pace of today for seven days borders on inconceivable.
